Easy park it under water....

Seriously though Tim, extremely nice build. Very well done, bet you're chuffed to bits!

After a stop Tim said the plenum temps get back (down) to steady-state after 10-15 minutes of driving. Does anyone have a picture of what the plenum cooling coil looks like? Is it a small A-frame double coil set-up, or just a single coil? I'm suprised it takes that long once the car is moving again.

Funny, but I never looked inside the plenum when the parts where laying around in the shop at the BIP open house.

It is a bar and plate exchanger that is built into the intake manifold. It is not removable.

It looks a lot like this but it is smaller.

Here is where it lives on Tim's intake manifold

If Tim were drag racing, in between passes, he could use bags of Ice to help cool things down while the engine is off. This simple yet effective method has been done for years. You just need to haul a cooler full of ice with you to the drag strip and some bags that won't melt or catch on fire.

Just for reference, there is a benchmark that suggests a good stock E39 M5 will do each 20 mph increment in N seconds in Nth gear.

For example 50MPH to 70MPH in 3rd would therefore be circa 3 seconds.

60MPH to 80 MPH in 5th ~ 5 Seconds or 4 seconds in 4th.

I believe this is from steady state though.

Anyway just a possible reference point.
