I have 3 AIT's set up in the car.

#1 Pre SC (at the filter) [PLX sensor]
#2 Post SC (in the tube between the SC and the Aftercooler) [PLX sensor]
#3 Post Aftercooler inside the Stage 3 plenum (ECU sensor)

Most of the drive home, at highway speeds, I would see:

Ambient temp was 60-70 degrees. I hit hot and cold patches the whole way.

#1 96 F
#2 160 F
#3 105 F

When I would give it the beans, of course #2 would sky rocket, but #3 would stay solid. On the down side, when I stopped for gas, #3 would rise up to 120'ish F, but would come back down to 105-110 F within 15 minutes of driving.

Thoughts?
Thanks for sharing the data! Now we have a direct comparison between manifold types. The Gen 3 looks a bit more efficient than Gen 1 based on the cruising data. If I'm just cruising in vacuum, I'm typically seeing a 10C (50F) drop between #2 and #3.

When I get into boost, #2 skyrockets as expected, while #3 slowly climbs. Clearly a major transfer of heat through the dinky Gen 1 exchanger. Hard to do a controlled comparison under boost of course.

Might be of interest to do a more direct comparison in person, under the same conditions.

Congrats on getting your baby back!

Dave

If that was 60 to 135ish, the stock E55 will be VERY close.

No the engine is off. The hot engine is heating up the cool plenum, which takes a while for the water to cool it back down.
