M5 from Bahrain need help
Hi all,
My name is Khalid i'm from the Bahrain i'm new to this and i wanted some help in getting some performance parts for my M5.
i was reading some post about superchargers and diff's and stuff i was wondering what would be the best for the M5 cause you see here in Bahrain it's very hot and it efects the M5 BIG TIME cause of the great heat .
right now i've got the Kellner exhust system and K&N filters that's it so far for my engine.
the out side of the car was un touched but the wheels had to go and i fitted 19" BBS wheels. Which i say changed the car completly.
P.S
I have a friend of mine that has a car with chevy V8 engine who just fitted a Vortech Supercharger he told me that i can fit the same system on my car is that true??
Hope to hear from you soon.

You should get in touch with boardmember Black M5. He is in Bahrain and has a supercharged M5 in the works. He will also be able to give you his tuning resources. (not a small list I might add)

WHAT!! a Supercharged M5
WOW a supercharged M5 here in Bahrain.
i dare not think of the power that beast will unleash, the M5 is already a rocket but this would be like faster than light.
I don't think i can afford the stuff he has on the car.
but i would like to hear about performance parts that are within the budget of a humen.

Heh, many would say that an $80,000 M5 is not within the budget of a human. Its certainly not in my range right now. Its all relative I guess.
There are many other mods available for the M5. If you want an immediate and noticeable increase in acceleration, I would go for the differential. Also since you already have the intake and exhaust, how about a software upgrade? I think Kelleners does that as well.
Superchargers for this car require a great deal of custom fabrication and software tuning. Its not as simple as bolting a vortech onto a mustang. Black M5's car has taken a long to time to complete and it still isnt done. It would go for the mods I listed above and take it from there.

that is a very good suggestion andrew..
i would've said the same thing..
definitely do the software upgrade that is one of the first ones to do next..it will increase your throttle response and i believe with kelleners you will get an increase in HP as well

You mentioned the heat there as a problem for your car. Were you aware that there is an option for double-glazed (insulated) windows that greatly reduce the amount of heat getting into your car? They are two thinner panes of glass with a layer of nitrogen gas between them and a frame which is only visible when the window is partly rolled down.
You'll need to replace the glass and the window tracks as well as the piece of rubber trim that sits inside the door. Cost of parts is about $850 US which includes front and rear rollup windows as well as the small side glass in the rear doors.
You can also get the insulated glass in a factory tint that is similar to the rear windows on a BMW X5.

Dave,
I think he might be referring to the fact that the ambient air temperature in Bahrain is very hight and thus robs horse power from the engine...
If that's indeed the issue, then ceramic coating on the inside of the intake air plenum and system could help.... But then, if it's 125 drgrees out, it might not.

With my limited knowledge I would perhaps focus on ways to reduce the temp of the air going into the engine. You may literally get more bang for the so-called "buck" concentrating on that part of the engine system.
The glass idea is interesting. I'd be interested in knowing its sound transfer properties compared with the stock glass. Added weight, if significant, so high up could increase body roll though.

Actually, I realized that. I just figured with such awful heat, he might be suffering as much as his engine!
