Tipping Service Advisors?

I was wondering how many of you tip your service advisor. I really don't know whether or not it's appropriate or expected.

I dont think its expected.

I actually think they might be prohibited from accepting gratuities.

I could be wrong.

Maybe Matt Moody will chime in on this thread.

I think tipping a service advisor is declasse. However, tipping a service tech would be fine......

I tipped my tech once pretty good for his continued good service. I can call him at any time and ask him questions, and feel like he will try his best to take care of me.

I get excellent service from my advisors too, but I wouldn't tip them. You know, you should get excellent service from everyone associated with BMW anyway, so I think tipping is probably a bad idea in general, but I just wanted to show some added appreciation. I don't think they are supposed to accept tips at my dealership.

While I don't let go of cash for my SA and tech, I routinely bring them adult beverages. The SA is a fan of white wine and the Master Tech digs beer from foreign shores. They take great care of me, my family, and my cars. Seems only right that I take care of them in the small way I do.

Regards,

DWP

I usually treat my SA as part of the family. Give him a nice card with cash for Christmas and any other days that may be special to him. Same with my parts guy (though he has since moved to a better job). I have aways been treated first class by them in return.

I've had very good luck with this technique on other cars. such as my SHO and my Impala SS. But I've
only got 15,000 miles on my BMW, so I haven't had an opportunity to try this yet on the Beast.
Although a good friend of mine, George Hillman, just became a service advisor at Open Road BMW,
so if he expects to continue to get regular access to my beer fridge, I'm sure I'll get steller service!

I gave a large tip to my SA and it is the best thing I have ever done. I did not buy the car there but I get 5 series loaners now, and I have carte blanche with him to drop my car in at any time. The level of service and attention I get from him is unreal now. I stand behind tipping. In fact, its not tipping I believe in, its over tipping. (Todd Wilkenson - My Blue Heaven)
