If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost to install them? I know there's been a lot posted on this topic. But for some reason, I haven't really been that interested until now.

They didn't cost anything to install. I installed them myself with information that I'd gained from this very board.

Parts however were the expensive part. I paid about $600 for the parts. I've heard that parts could be had for considerably cheaper nowadays. I can give you more information if you'd like.

It's an easy upgrade. You'd need to get HID D2S 9006 type bulbs along with the ballast/ignitor units (try to get the ones made by either osram or phillips for the bulbs and phillips for the ballast). It's all plug and play. The hardest part is removing the black plastic housing. There are also a number of ways that you could attach the ballast to the car. I used double sided tape to securely attach the ballast to the inside of my bumper. Works great this way. You'll take the stock plug that comes off the halogen bulbs and plug that in the ballast unit and from there you'd plug the connector to the HID bulb before carefully putting it back in the foglight housing. You'd probably want to use a plastic flat screwdriver type on the outer edge to undo the tab that locks the housing in place. Do NOT touch the screw that you see in the little hole on the black foglight housing. That's to adjust the alignment. Also, do NOT touch the glass part of the HID bulbs. The oil on your hand will burn at the high temperatures that the HID bulbs put out and weaken the glass.

The light disperal pattern after the upgrade is not as defined as the lowbeams but it does put out a LOT more light filling in the area immediatley in front of your car as well as the far end just slightly above the lowbeam cutoff line. Really works well! I'd do the upgrade again if given the chance to.

Some places that you can order the kit from are hids4less.com or autolamps-online.com. You can either choose to go with stage 1 or stage 2 bulbs. The difference between the two is the color temperature with the former being slightly brighter but noticably more greenish. The latter is a bit more purple/blue.

Take a look at these pictures, especially at the lowbeams.

        Stage 1 OEM 4300K bulbs:

        Stage 2 6000K bulbs:

Prices as I said earlier range from $500 - $650 for the kit depending on if you shop around. The most important part is that you make sure that the connections are secure.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

farcknorf: Yes, I do have higher-rez images. Email me. jgtang@mindspring.com to let me know what resolution you'd like them in.

        Jason,

Looks like you have wheel locks. If I'm correct, where did you get them?

        Also, nice valve stem caps!!!

        Thanks,

        DWP
