Can you help me identify this part

Been lurking here for a while and finally joined recently. Great forum and lots of good info.

I have a small leak and it seems to be coming from the 2 small plastic plugs in the picture. I cannot locate these on realoem and wondering if anyone can identify. Thanks!

That appears to be the transmission bell-housing. A leak from there means you have a leaking rear main seal (RMS). The plugs are there to keep dust out but still provide a leakage path in the event of a RMS oil leak (or a coolant leak from the top of the engine) that would otherwise fill the bell-housing.

Josiah is spot on. Your rear main seal is leaking. Typical problem on these cars with 50k + miles. You have to pull the clutch and flywheel off to replace it. You may consider doing a complete overhaul in that area while you are in there. No sense in pulling it all apart and putting old parts back in.

Search for "RMS" or "rear main seal". There are quite a few threads covering this topic. I know member "Terabass" did a very good job of taking pictures and posted a thread of his RMS replacement......
