I would suggest that you should see no smoke coming out of the exhaust. If the exhaust has smoke, then your engine is burning a large amount of oil and that's where your problem is.

b) All BMWs burn oil. It's normal.
3) All BMW M cars burn more oil than "regular" BMWs. It's normal.
iv) If you'd tell us what model year your car is and especially the date of production if it is a 2000, then we might be able to point to that and say "you've got the old-style rings which generally cause the car to burn a lot of oil". Or we can rule it out. Either way, it's important.

I would also suggest, as nicely as I can, that if you ask this board for help with an issue and you get some good suggestions, that you then follow those suggestions before coming back and asking more questions about the same problem.

All the BMWs now sold. Now back in a Porsche. There is no substitute.
