Crucial Oil Stains on My Trunk Lid!! HELP

Hey all,

I normally don't panic, but I'm panicking. Dirty oil/rainwater was dripping from a pipe in a parking garage all day and dripped on my trunk lid. I haven't tried too many products because I don't want to damage the paint but the clock is ticking. I'm about to buy a late night clay bar kit but any suggestions would be helpful.

Are you ******* kidding me? Rain water and oil dripped on my ... on Twitpic

Any suggestions??

Thanks

Mood: APOPLECTIC. @Obama: please get someone a job to fix that F#&*ING PIPE!!

Try rubbing alcohol and/or clay bar. If those don't remove it some light wetsanding will get it right out.

Clay bar. Use spray wax liberally to keep the clay moving smoothly over the area

From a 10-year experienced detailing "student";

I would first wash the area with a hose. Next, wet a cloth with warm water and dishsoap (Palmolive, etc). It's a mild degreaser. This will most likely remove the oily substance (as well as the wax in the area). If this works, good, be prepared to wash and re-wax the area.

If this does not work:

On a buffing pad, apply a dime sized amount of Meguiar's Ultimate Compound or Scratch-X, whichever you have or find first. Work at the area making sure to distribute the media evenly. Wipe dry with a clean terry cloth after. Repeat if necessary.

Maybe start with a power washer to get as much off as possible but don't blast too close to the paint.
