Limerock Park SCDA ~Video~

Well,

What a great day at the track. My last day on street tires. My Hoosier R compounds are on the truck. Got to see SouthShore, Blue Max and Darth Vader there (all beautiful cars).

I put together a short (8 minute) video of a few laps with my inside car cam, with a few outside shots as well.

These were not very good laps as my tires were *Sh*t* Anyhow, I passed a 911 and a GTI.

http://www.fontanas.net/school.htm

I will be posting a high res (78mb) 640x480 when it's done rendering.

/Eric

I am curious, I assume you guys had to have proper training to get out on the track, correct? In other words, this was event in which I couldn't just drive down with a car and get out on the track?

Those professional photos are INCREDIBLE!!!! More more more

Yes, training is required. There are 4 different run groups,
Novice, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2 and Advanced.

Intermediate 2 and Advanced may solo (I'm in Intermediate 2).

There is classroom training with line theory, flagging, etc. The more advance classes teach you about heel & toe shifting, vechicle dynamics, etc.

If you haven't done one, Join the BMWCCA or find a local "private" club.

Efontana,

Great pics and videos!

How did you rig up your camera and what kind of camera did you use? I'm doing a track event in August and I want a camera in the car so I can share with the board. Any tips or suggestions you could offer would be appreciated.

It's a Hamma Suction cup mount, with a safety cord. You mount
it on the rear glass very low, wrap the safety cord through those
metal loops on the rear deck. Bring your camera remote control to turn it on and off.

Have fun!

I'll have pics and video from "The Glen" on July 31-Aug 1st.

That was great fun! Oh-oh, I think I am hooked! Just what I need another hobby! Eric - thanks for all your help - you made my day that much better.

Max, Sean, good to see you guys there. I'll be backkk..........

TCM - It was my first time on a track, and I learned a lot, had a great time and my car is none the worst for wear, well, maybe my tires are a little more used up, but it was very cool to be able to drive the car that way.

Bill
