E60 M5 calipers on E39 M5 possible???

Hi guys,

Just wondering if this is possible or has been done??? Also if its been done is it straight bolt on or does it require custom brackets? I have 19inch after market wheels so I think there is enough space in terms of the rim area...\

Cheers

Anything that wasn't made for the E39 M5 will require custom brackets.

Not unlike the BMW Performance calipers, really. But would the E60 calipers provide the volume/pressure equivalencies? I've read a bit about simply tossing bargain unmatched calipers on a system, and expecting great things, with disappointment in them being worse overall (since the system is now out of "balance", for lack of a better term).

Right, but the tempting aspect about the BMW performance calipers is that they're a proper BMW BBK for about a grand.

Sure, a car that will see the track often will be better served with BBK on all 4 corners, but street-driven M5s will be just fine with these because they'll fight fade much better. Any system that is good enough to lock up the front tires will do the job. Some proper pads, stainless steel lines, and a good fluid will be more than adequate for many (myself included).

had some and this is what I know for sure ....

The REAR us easy !! bolts right up !! what you will need is the backing plates for the E60 M5 for the rear and you re good !! the Ebrake parts fit and so do the calipers and rotors !
the front Im not sure ....not 100% sure . looked to be in need of some custom brackets .. to adpapt the two caliper and caliper mounts ....

it looks to be pretty easy .. I KNOW the REAR is !!

post pix !!

Out of curiosity, where are you finding his pictures? Every time I click on the links it appears as though the links have expired and they take me to the main page of the website versus his album.

Curious if you recall what was off, like the caliper mounts or the spacing on the rotor. Perhaps, and it's a long shot, alternate size rotors would work, if the latter? This would be a pretty damn choice upgrade possibility if all that was needed was a set of rotors (and the e60 calipers, of course).
