I don't think HRE's make a RDC for the M5, atleast the last time I checked. I think they make them for the 3 series. Keep us posted if you find out if they do make them for the 5 series.

Harry, as Oak indicated I am not sure that HRE makes the 540R series (reverse lip) for M5s. I just got the new catalogue and it indicates that the R series is for Ferraris and Porches. If they do make a reverse lip in the 547, it would be a tough call. The regular lip looks awesome from behind or in the front, but--the reverse lip would presumably make the wheels look even bigger. either way you won't be dissappointed. When I ordered in December, HRE did not offer any reverse lips in the 540 series. If they have them now for M5s I would probably get the reverse lip.
Regarding clear coat--I would stay away from it. First I don't think you need it. Second, there will be some minor imperfections where the clear coat leaves very minor drip marks and flaking around where the tires are installed. Third, when you get curb rash-which we all do-- it's easier to wet sand without the clear coat. Finally, it's not worth the extra cost--$50 per wheel. The local person at Discount Tire came from a Discount tire in So. Cal, and sold a lot of HREs. He helped me wet sand some curb rash and you can barely tell anymore. He strongly advises against clear coat because of ease of wet sanding without the clear coast and potential flaking with the clear coat.
Glad to hear you sold your ACSs and are getting HREs. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks for the info Steve! I am trying to find out if it is in fact available on the 540 series. When I asked Sam, he told me it was available. Now I'm not so sure.
About the clear coat, I am thinking about just doing the centers. Any thoughts on that?
Thanks!

SteveB,
If you don't get clear coat, how do you protect your wheels? I once had a set of non-clear coated Revolution wheels and brake dust etched the metal. I was lax in cleaning them so it's partly my fault.

I ordered my HREs early May and they didn't offer the R for the Z8 which I believe takes the same wheels as the M5. I like the classic look of the 547 with the double lip anyways so I didn't care to much. The reversed definetly look more modern and sporty. I believe HRE will offer them for BMW in the future. I heard different opinions about durability and weight. The reveresed are heavier since they need thicker lips to sustain blows to the longer flat part of the rims. Heard from other board members that the regular rims get bent pretty easily. I have about 2500 miles on mine without any problems, so far. I went for the clear coat and it seems to help keeping the wheels clean, at least compared to the originals.

What is the difference between a reverse drop lip and a regular one? I'm still confused about that.

HAHA!
I am getting the ones that look very similiar to my ACS type IIIs....the 547s. (9.5X19 w/275s up front and 10.5X19 w/285s in the rear). High polished and I am debating the clear coat. I have some time to decide on the clearcoat because HRE sends them out of house.

Harry, I don't think I would get anything clear coated--even the centers. Seems like a waste of money to me. What does Sam telling you about clear coat?
Let me know what you decide on the reverse lip. If you want the double lip --let me know. maybe we could make a deal.

I am still a little confused btw. what the differences are. Could somone be so kind as to demonstrate with pics?? I'm sure I'm not the only one. Send me the pics and I'll post them if you can't.
Steve, Sam told me to just clearcoat the centers, and leave the lips alone. I'm gonna call HRE direct and find out what the deal is, is it or is it not available on the 547s??
