Post Other BMW Phones??

Is the Startac / BMW CPT 7000 the only available integrated phone for the M5? I'm looking for an ATT one rate capable Startac..

They have it. Listed as the CPT 7000 but, you must specify ATT One Rate Compatible.
Have it in my car and works great. Especially with the Voice Recognition package.

The phone issue is getting confusing. I would like to get a BMW phone, but no one at the dealership can give me any useful information. Could someone with a 7000 phone help me here:

1) can you see the number of the incoming call (caller ID)? if so, on the phone or on the Nav Display?

2) Can you read text messages (email) on the Nav display?

3) can you use the phone book on the Nav display?

4) would anyone know anything about the "soon to be available" new 8000 phone?

I will use the Motorola phone in the car only, and use my Nokia for "pocket" application... I think I can do a "forwarding" scheme that would work..

Thanks,

Arie

Yes, on the phone if you open it. No, on the Nav display

2) Can you read text messages (email) on the Nav display?

No, that is not available on the Nav display

3) can you use the phone book on the Nav display?

Yes, you can access the phone book as well as the last 8 calls.

4) would anyone know anything about the "soon to be available" new 8000 phone?

I have not heard any information other than it will be a tri-mode phone

Hope this helps some.

My dealer read me a release that said that the new Motorola 8000 series phone would be available by the end of the first quarter, 2001. If you buy the phone, does it necessarily come with voice recognition, or is that an extra?
