        Post tire pressures

i have michelin sport pilots and wonder if the bmw factory recommended 35psi front, 38psi rear pressures are best--wear/performance--for everyday driving. i seem to recall the dealer recommending 35psi all around but i prefer the feel of the above.

        thanks,
        d.

I've been running 45 / 50. Have run as high as 50 / 55 for the track. In the beginning I started out with 42 / 45 but noticed excess tire wear on the outside of the front tires so raised the pressure again.

Mark- I've heard of others with outside front tire wear. I think the Stage III camber plates will balance that & also give better turning. No?

Thats interesting. I've been keeping at 39/42 for the life of my tires so far and I noticed that the rear inside tread is wearing MUCH faster. Lowered it to 36/38. Same Dunlop 8080's

My mechanic recommends 39 front and 44 rear. That is what I have been keeping them at since day one. I have not noticed any excessive wear or harshness in the ride. Of course my rears are losing rubber every time I drive the car due to my heavy foot!

I've been using 38 front 41 rear based on the recommendation of the dealer. I am running Dunlop 8080's. I haven't noticed any abnormal wear patterns yet but I only have 4500 miles on the beast.

How many miles should we expect on these giant erasers? I have read that some are only getting about 9-10,000 miles.

Jim, Depending on your driving habits (ie: how heavy your right foot is as well as your clutch action??) I would NOT expect more than 10K miles or so out of the rear tires! I had a Dinan Supercharged M3 with not as much torque as the BEAST, and I was buying new rear tires every 10-15 thousand miles or so. Just keep $600+ dollars in your piggy bank for at all times for this purpose. By the way, I have always used Michelin Pilot Sports! I love them!
