Hello guys,

I know this topic has been discussed several times earlier but it seems like there is no consensus on the topic, so I decided to try and put everything I found in a summary and ask you once again about your opinion.

Until now I figured out the following about some different brands and types:

  • OEM rotors are pretty good
  • OEM pads are not that good
  • Hawks HP+: too noisy, same dirt level as OEM, good for racing
  • Hawks HPS: good performance in general, bad bite when cold (the first several stops)
  • Stoptech: not very good
  • Axxis ULT: recommended by several board members, relatively cheap
  • Pagid Sport: recommended by several board members, but very shortly, like "this are the best, no need to comment". Cannot judge exactly. Somewhat expensive
  • EBC: eat the rotors or at least used to
  • Carbotech: recommended by a couple of board members, especially for track driving, do not eat rotors, last a long time. Unfortunately could not find which model is meant

I am looking for good pads for the street, only an occasional track day.

I have the feeling that the Pagid Sport are a good choice but as the people who suggested them did not comment too much, I cannot be sure about it.

Any comments are appreciated.

We use Akebono ceramics, good bite, NO dust... I have them on my X5 that I tow racecars with and have had no issues.

Any decent track pad will dust heavily and the dust is caustic to the paint on the wheels. I have tracked a heavily modified 325is with Akebono ceramics.. I did get some fade at the end of a really hard session and Laguna Seca.
