I don't know it's still a hard choice... I was speaking to the local Dealer here in NJ that actually sell the kit and also install.
They mentioned before proceeding into buying anything to open the motor and check for Carbon Build up

That makes no sense...I would go somewhere else. The secondary air pump and carbon buildup had NO effect on performance (hence the "software fix" that is popular)
In fact, the secondary airpump is COMPLETELY removed during this installation....
Depending on the mileage, ensuring that the motor is in optimal condition before installation, I agree with (compression testing etc.)
I would be very suspect of this dealer.....
