Question about Zymol waxes...

After looking at previous threads I'm going to get some HD Cleanse & Zymol wax from www.zymolforbmw.co.uk I also understand the need for the "multistep" application process.

Is the Concours wax worth the extra £100 over the Carbon wax? What's the difference between the two. My car is Carbonblack - what should I get - I want a deep 'wet' shine to really bring out the colour.

I have used the carbon but not concour. If I remember correctly only difference is the carnauba content.

Concour: Concours Glaze was originally designed by and for the founders of Zymöl for their own cars. Now it is available to everyone who demands a "show-car" gloss and depth of shine. Concours contains 47% Brazilian No. 1 White and Yellow Carnauba by volume (90% White, 10% Yellow).

Contains White and Yellow Carnauba Wax, 47% by volume (90%White, 10% Yellow), Montan Oil, Coconut Oil, Banana Oil, Cinnamon Oil, Propolis (derived from Bees), Cetyl Esters, Cetyl Cocoamide (derived from coconut oil) and FD&C Yellow #5.

Carbon: A wax containing nutritive oils, enzymes and 37% Brazilian #1 Carnauba

Ashok:

If you can afford it, go for the Concours. I detail with Zymol all the time, you will be amazed at the difference in depth of color and shine with the Concours. Looks like a show car. Apply with your hand, buff off within a minute, the buff the whole car again 4 hours later to remove the carnauba flakes that arise. You will be very pleased with the results. I will try to add an image, never done this so it may not work.

Thank you Rare M5 . I figured it out but you beat me to it. How do you make it smaller?

I prefer NOT to use an electric buffer but to do everything by hand - would you recommend this approach?

TCM,

In order to make the image smaller, you have to change the size before you post the image. (using image editing software)

I hope that help.

Zymol

TCM,

"apply by hand" as in with fingers? What about using an applicator? What do you use to buff the car?

BTW That is a gorgeous shine, is your car CB?

Thanks

By hand I mean (1) put the stuff on your fingers so it melts (2) smear it on the car (3) buff off by hand with a clean cotton cloth (no orbital polishers etc.)

Ashok:

In order to properly apply the Concours you have to warm the wax first. They say to let it melt in your hands, I cheat and either stick it out in the sun for a little bit or breath into it to generate some heat. Then I run my fingers(almost gone after about 30 applictions) to pick up a very small amount of wax and then spread it along my palm. Then I use back and forth motions in both directions to insure even destribution of the product. Buff off by hand using a micro-wipe in about a minute and then buff the flakes off by hand again with a micro-wipe in four hours (I sometimes leave it overnight, then buff off the next morning). Hope this answers your questions. If you want to apply by hand, then I definately reccomend this approach. You cannot beat the results you get with Zymol if it is applied correctly. Good luck.

RsBimmer:

My 540 is Jet Black. Really is great when it is clean. Unfortunately, that is only for about 10 minutes after I wax it .
