Detailing question: How to best clean the black exterior trim pieces of wax?

Okay, I got a little sloppy, and now I have polish and wax on my black mouldings on the doors and on the bumpers. How best to remove it? What would you put on it afterwards?

Thanks in advance!

Don't ask why ... just run a search on "peanut".

Bill: drive down and make TC do it

I've never tried this peanut butter solution idea....

Next time use masking tape, it may sound like a chore but it's really easy to put on and off and it helps keep the wax out of the tricky bits.

Good luck wiht the removal. I'm curious to know how the peanut solution goes.

JFB: thanks for the pointer! I will try it tonight. I should have figured this had been discussed already. I love this board..

Dan: TC could do it I'm sure, and I will use masking tape next time!

Yes peanut butter works. . Meguiar's makes some good products. Better solution is to not use wax that turns white

Be sure to use creamy peanut butter rather than chunky!

It's the oil in the peanut butter that takes care of the wax residue.

Let us know how it goes!

Why not just Peanut oil then? It'd be easier to apply and take off.

I did think about trying just peanut oil but someone once told me that it's better to use peanut butter. Go figure! I'd try both.

It is the oils in the peanut butter that gets it off, it re softens the wax and allows for it to be wiped off.
Both Peanut and vegetable oil will work.
Just put whichever one u want to use on a cloth, wipe it onto the trim and let it sit for a minute to soak into the wax, and then wipe off.
Should come out perfectly black.
