I love everything about my new M5 except the fact that they put a cassett deck in the dash. Please, a cassett deck? What year is this? I know that they are limited in space but why a cassett deck? Anyways, I am thinking about replacing it with a minidisc player (size seems to fit). Just wondering if anyone has done this or are thinking about it. Any suggestion is gladly accepted. Thanx in advance.

I think MiniDisc is also an old technology and doesn't sound that good. I would just stay on CDs.....

Yepp I have the same ideá - ive got the impression there is a MD version for IN.Dash mounting . just swap the unit and swap the wood part. but ??? anyone knows?

i think the cassette deck is the most over-engineered and least used feature on the car. my seven year old son does like to see the nav screen move out of the way however!!

I believe that you could only get the minidisc player in place of the CD player without the navigation system. I don't believe that a mini disc player can replace the tape unit behind the nav screen.

HI Kiwi, i changed my original in dash cassett deck for Cd in dash original form BMW and i'm loving. Now i have 6 disc in back more 1 in front and very easy to change.It's not so expensive.

P.S. I dont' have Nav system maybe this CD in dash don't work with Nav system.

thanks for the tips guys. I like the MP3 player idea, but not the fact that it has to hang outside in the dash. (this is why I prefer the MD).
