SMG II M3 over M5?

As some of you might notice, I posted some questions before regarding buying a used '00 Carbon Black M5. I almost bought the beast, however, after thinking about it for few days, i ended up paying deposite for a '02 Alpine White SMGII M3.
The reason why I didn't buy the M5 are:
1. It's a used car, I don't want to spend over 100k CAD for a used car.
2. M5 will have new design in few years, whereas the M3 just came out last year.
3. I'm the only member in the family who can drive stick. don't want to be a selfish jerk.

However, I'd still wish I could also get an M5. Nothing beats a 4 door Ferrari!

NA1 congrats on your new purchase, are they charging more than 100g Canadian for the used M5?? That's crazy considering it's about that same price MSRP and you don't even have to wait that long to get a new car in Vancouver anyways. I got my M5 within 3 months. I am also planning on putting an order down for the SMG M3 as well. That is whenever I get back to Vancouver. I am currently in Thailand and not sure when I'll be leaving. Let me know how the car is after you get it. When is the delivery date for the car?

Hi NA1, first welcome on the board and nice to see you got the SMG II M-3. I drove one M-3 with SMG II from my BMW Dealer and it's very difficult to drive. It was difficult to put in neutral (0) to turn on the ignition. At least 3 min to find the right position. Did you picked up your car and drove in the first time without received any lesson??

Congrats and share with us your picks.

Regards.

VanM,
The '00 Carbon Black M5 I found was selling for 89,950, then we made a deal of 86,000 so after tax it's around 100,000 CAD.
So what year is your M5? My friend's got a '00 Le Man blue M5 as well, and it's the BEST color for M5 no doubt!
fernando,
no, I haven't gotten the car yet. The car should be here end of July. I'll let you guys know it goes!
For those of you have driven both M5 and SMGII M3, which one do you think it's faster, straightline performance wise?
