G Tech Pro vs Tazzo VPC (Measuring the M5 Perf.)

I am interested in improving my driving by measuring acceration, 1/4 mile etc. I was researching the G Tech Pro when I came across the Tazzo.

The M5 can be launched more efficiently the easier it is to measure. I surmised that the 0-60 time has a numer of factors that determine the outcome. The Tazzo says about their 60ft test " Practicing launch techniques is a breeze with the 60-foot test. No more questions about vehicle performance vs. driver performance."

It does everything the G-Tech Pro does also BTW.

They claim to have a "dual axis accelerometer " which they claim doesn't need leveling and works on grades. They say you can mount it to your dash and forget about it. You still have to mount it sideways like the G-Tech Pro to measure lateral g-force though.

Would like your opinion on this if you have heard of it or have experience with it before I shell out $150 or so. I tried a search and came up with nothing on this board.

http://tazzo.com/
Thanks in advance.

Sorry Johny, but this Tazzo looks like G-tech Pro with a four suction cups instead of two. A better meter is made by www.race-technology.com, it is called AP-22 and I have used many times with very repeatable results. Good Luck!

I bought a g-tech - mostly because I am a gadget freak. A few 0-60 attempts, definitely several tenths off the magazines' best, showed me that there was a lot of skill involved in getting it right. I decided I could live without getting it that right.

Understand that practicing max performance launch techniques will pretty much ruin your clutch. Even if done perfectly (i.e. max performance without regard for clutch specifically) you are taking life off of it. This is why the computer controlled max performance launch mode of the M3 SMG limits the number of times you can do it and stay in warranty.

If you need to win drag races and can afford to replace your clutch early, go for it. Otherwise, recognize that sacrificing only a few tenths is sufficient to be much kinder to the clutch, and enjoy your car. There will always be a faster drag race car - and it can be built for a lot less money.

Want to be a better driver? Go take some performance driving instruction!

Great points. 1.) I don't want to ruin the clutch. 2.) I did take the Skip Barber weekend @ Laguna Seca and benefited from it. I guess I got a little carried away with the gadget aspect of it.

Turbo, do a search. There was a guy awhile back who posted a lot of AP22 graphs of HP vs. ET vs. Speed and so on. Very informative.
