Motorola V60

Has anyone tried this hands free kit for a Motorola V60 in their M5?

I have it on my C32 which I know is basically the same system as
the BMW, it is clearer then the Startac, I would highly recommend
upgrading, the phone overall is way better, it feels great and is
the perfect weight wherer you just barely feel it in your pocket
Not to mention the cool Carbon Fiber

The BMW phone has a proprietary chip in it that allows the integration with the car. It also has a proprietary connection cord that will not support other Motorola phones. Bottom line is that you might be able to engineer a wiring harness to power the phone and connect to the antenna, but integration with the hands free system , steering and dash controls, and displays would be extremely difficult.

I have been searching high and low for a quality hands-free kit, as i have the V60 as well. After talking to my dealer and a few aftermarket shops it seems there is no real way to integrate the phones with the system. After going back and forth whether or not to downgrade to the star-tac or just keep what i have, i came across an interesting device that is somewhat (notice i said somewhat) comparable. It is the hands-free clip on speaker phone ( i looked for a part number but had no luck). It fits perfectly in the console and is easily used with or without the car charger. I got mine at my local Verizon wireless store for around $50 bucks. I have tried everything out there and so far have found this is the best.

Hopefully BMW will realize that they need to step up thier mobile phone compatability (like Merc) and build an adapter for the V60. Until then, this is my suggestion to you.

Just to throw some light into this discussion, the 2001 Mercedes Benz Timeport CDMA is actually compatible with the BMW system, last time I test drove a 745i, I plugged in my Motorola Timeport and it worked!

Have your Dealer check the European parts section of the ETK. BMW has a handsfree kit for the V60 series GSM phones which may work. The next step would then be to download the propriatary software into the phone. I have heard of some dealerships now offering this but have never been given any names. will check with my own here locally to see if they have any more information.

That would be GREAT if you could get part numbers for that kit! I would LOVE to be able to use my v60 with my M5!

Thanks Mark for the heads up!
