Tutorial: How to burn a Nav v19 CD using Nero (or Adaptec/Roxio)

EDIT: The pics might not show the first time because my dataline is getting hammered right now. Apologies.

Some people have had questions on how to properly burn the Nav v19 firmware upgrade CD. I put together a few screenshots to help people along. While it's for Nero, the same menus and options are available in Adaptec/Roxio Cheezy Computer Crasher too.

Fire up Nero Burning ROM and do a new CD of any type. It can be a data CD, audio CD, hybrid CD, etc....

You will see the main screen. The click on the FILE menu and select BURN IMAGE.

Select that and you will get goto the next screen. Nero's default CD image format is NRG. You need to get it to see an ISO file. The newer Neros will recognize ISO but come version require the you to change the file type to ALL FILES (*.*)

You should now see the ISO image of the Nav v19 CD. You then double click on the file. This brings you to the next screen.

Have it write the CD and finalize. Select a speed and hit write.

Additional advice. Use a CDR and not a CDRW. The RW disks are only have 30% the relectivity of a standard CD and thus will not be recognized by the nav system.

        Hope this helps

        X5Boston:

Thanks for the tips. I have s/w 3-1/20 and will be upgrading first to version 18 because I have a key CD with it. After that I'll upgrade to 18.2 or 19. The version 18 "package" came with "cloneCD" program. The three files for the sw and key CD's are 'image.img', 'image.sub' and 'image.ccd'. Do you know if 'cloneCD' must be used or could Nero or Roxio also be used?

        Rgds,
        Norm

As far as I know the CCD format is only supported by CloneCD since it is their format. Kinda like how NRG is Nero's format. SUB is a component of the CloneCD image file. Seems like CloneCD is your only option here.

The IMG file appears to be a graphic. v18 had an instruction sheet that someone scanned in. Mine was in JPG format. Here is mine if you can't get the IMG file open.Nav v18 Instructions

You can go straight from v18 to v19 and skip v18.2. That is what I did.

I also have v18 archived if you need any of the files.

        Good luck.
