Angry nav tech BACK-UP disk problem!

Another member was kind enough to make me a "back-up" disk of Nav Tech Region 2 the other day. BUT, it wouldn't work in my car ! It worked fine in his M5, but my car tried to keep the CD for a few minutes, but finally ejected after a few minutes. Anyone have an answer why it would work in one M5, but not the other? I think he has a newer M5 compared to my 00, but hope some has an answer to this problem, OR a extra REGION 2 disk hanging around

Maybe your software version is not updated, that's all. Upload the latest version (18.1 or 18.2 I think it is) and bingo! it will work. It happened to me. good luck!

ps: software upgrades are done at your dealer (that's where I did mine)

I believe the map disks are backward compatible with all revisions of the navigation firmware. Did your friend burn a CDR or a CDRW? CDRWs are notorious for working poorly in everything other than a PC.

        THANKS GUYS!

I have a 00 M5 (small screen), so can I still get the upgrade? How do I know what version I currently have? Does the dealer charge anything for the upgrade? And what differences will I see once the upgrade has been completed?
