So Cal M5 Drive with Gumball Racers

Hey guys... its been a while since the last So Cal M5 meet... its time for another one right? And since RaveM5 and Lonman are comming from ways away why not have a Drive when they are here... Lonman is leaving on May 1st and Rave is leaving on the 5th I think. So that means the only weekend we can do this drive is on the 27th or the 28th. Suggestions?

Whos in?

Gumball 3000

The Gumball goes from the 25-30th......so that could be tricky.
Just a quick question. If we cross a state line, do the cops stop chasing you? Last year we got chased through Germany for 60 miles.....we hit Holland and we were home free. Just a thought!

Well, I think it would make the most sense to do the meet on Saturday, May 4th for Rave M5... Hey Eric, you're coming to Bimmerfest though, right? That's our next So. Cal club event, I believe...

Anyway, Lonman... perhaps we can do a meet and greet with you sometime before you leave, perhaps we can all get together for drinks or dinner or something so that we can introduce ourselves to you and see your SL 55 in the flesh...

BTW, wouldn't recommend running over state lines to evade cops, they use helicopters, and actually work together between state agencies to go after high speed chases. Cops live for this stuff, and crossing state lines might even get the FBI involved-- I don't really recommend it

Lonman

You were lucky to get away from the cops in Germany.

The link below has a story about a car chase that started in Germany went straight through Poland and ended in Ukraine, it lasted 2 days!!

Lonman and the other Gumballers were not lucky at all. If a car chase is considered too dangerous, if the cops know they don't have a chance of catching you and if you haven't done anything serious (like roobing a bank) they'll let you off the hook. This is done to take the pressure off the offender and to make sure he doesn't take an even higher risk. Traffic violations are not enforcable across borders whereas a crime is indeed enforcable. German police will then call upon the dutch police before you even reach the border... However there is a very fine line between a traffic offence and a crime on german autobahns. Tailgating is considered a crime if the guy you are tailgating feels constraint and reports you to the cops. Boom, then they'll be after you and they WILL get you to stop. Their means include an artificial traffic jam which will slow you down...

The case commented on by SC786 was a bank robbery and hostage taking and was therefore considered very serious and thus they were chased across 3 countries.
