I see. I misunderstood you. I thought you had used the same clutch (pressure plate) and replaced the clutch plate (disk) four times. I didn't realize you had to remove it for unrelated repairs.

Tim, I'm am very glad you posted this up. I hope when it comes time for me to install a new clutch, that this keeps me from making the same mistake. This is in no way guaranteed, but if I do its my own fault...

Mistakes fixing things are only bad if we don't learn from them. Thanks to you we have all learned about this one, and we can now be free to screw something else up on our own.

Well, I prob made that bonehead mistake with my car too. I replaced the clutch, pressure plate, bearing, and friction surface of the aluminum flywheel. I also broke the sensor when removing it from the bell housing. I would rather not tear the entire thing apart again, so does anyone know where the two missing teeth should be when rotated to top dead center? Is top dead center from cylinder 1 on the driver side (left)? How do I check to see if the computer is reading the crank sensor? The new sensor seems to be pretty far away from the timing ring teeth. I took a quick measurement with a metal ruler with a slide gauge on it. There were no shims on the previous sensor, but it broke so I don't know how long the "nose" was on it to match it up with the new one.

Any suggestions and tech procedures are greatly appreciated.

Thanks Tim! This saved my butt when I was re-installing my flywheel. I knew there was someway to align or I would have marked it during removal, but my mind was blank. So a quick search was needed.

When I saw the thread everything came back about the dowel ring.
