Dinan exhaust question

All you Dinan guys feel free to chime in. I was wondering why the Dinan exhaust is so costly compared to other systems? It is simply two canisters and two pipes. It is not a full system, does not include headerrs or cats and I would be surprised if there was any negligable hp gain, yet it costs upwards of $2000.00. Why?? Eisenmann costs about $1100 and offers basically the same setup. Supersprint, B&B, AC Schnitzer all cheaper. The gouge is on. Can anyone explain to me other than name recognition, how can Dinan charge so much more for all its products than its competitors? And why are you guys all buying their products? I just cannot figure it out. I am not trying to bad mouth Dinan because I know that they no doubt make a great product. But, what gives? Over $2000 for two cannisters that do not increase hp. If you look at all their performance products and buy all of them to the tune of about $6000, what do you gain 20hp. Not to cost effective. Anyway let me know what I'm missing. Thanks for all your help as I rerally want to upgrade my exhaust sound. Thank you

-Lou

WOW! I didn't pay over $2000 for my Dinan exhaust. I paid around $1800 total for mine. I thought that was expensive as well but then you've got the Tubi's which costs upwards of $2500 but that includes the the canisters + the resonators.

I can tell you that the Dinan exhaust is very well made. And many folks out there will tell you that the Dinan and the Tubi's have one of the best sounds out there. Kelleners too but those are also expensive too.

It doesn't matter how well built it is, 2K for a pair of mufflers is absurd. Isn't that all that you get with the Dinan "exhaust"?

1.5K for a CAI... COME ON!

I think he's taking advantage of 2 things.

1) There's hardly anyone else making aftermarket parts for our cars (supply)

2) One would presume that anyone with an M5 is a performance enthusiast with a few bucks. (demand)

Can't say I blame him though, he should get what he can. Quite the American thing to do.

He charges it because he gets it!

His prices are absolutely outrageous. Exhaust, CAI, Suspension.

They do a good job but no that good. I just cant get over the price for the intake. The materials can't cost more than $200.00

More power to him if people keep buying his products. I just know that I wont be on that list as long as he continues to gouge.

This was exactly my point. His prices are absurd and you cannot even quantify the benefits. I think that in Europe with so many BMW tuners their products are far superior and cheaper. Dinan has no competition in the US and although he prides himself on R&D, I would bet he doesn't do much of it. My case in point is that almost all european tuners get much more out of the M5 and at much less cost. Not to offend anyone but the whole situation is a joke.

My problem is that so much of what they sell is manufactured by other people. They sell Koni shocks, Bosch air flow meters, BMW diffs. I had the full package on my M3, and it was a great car. The prices for that stuff was reasonable though. $1500 for an intake is absurd, especially for 3hp. My exhaust cost $900, and the quality is as good if not better than Dinan.
