Good luck with the repair - I hope they come out well.
Thanks Bill.
No, I still drive up to the same place. Those guys to a damn good job. Besides, it's a nice strech for the car to drive back up there.

ahh.. don't you wish they had the stock rims in 19"? they would look so much nicer than the LMs... The LMs are good rims, very light and strong... but I don't like the fact that they spokes are completely flat and makes the car look two dimensional... :p

Not that this observation helps at this point, but you need to run a lot of air pressure (44-46 psig.) to keep the rims out of contact with the road when using very low aspect ratio tires. Even then, sharp-edged pot holes are a big worry.
Sorry to hear about your fiasco. Also one thing to keep in mind is that any big wheels with low aspect ratio has very little flexing on the sidewall that anytime you hit a pothole or maybe sharp speed bumps, the WHEEL is the one that will absorb the impact. I still think the OE M5 wheel stronger than majority of the aftermarket wheels. You might want to look on BBS LM's. Take care and happy motoring!!!
I've read somewhere that the city actually reimbursed the car owner's damages because of bad roads. Seemed like there's a court case on this. But this being Brooklyn, i.e. New York, may be laws don't apply.
Are insurances any good in this case? The first night I got my Lexus, a cat got on it and scratched it all up. My insurance paid for all the repairs and didn't raise my rates. Worth a thought.
I saw a for sale item about 19" ACS rims and passed on it (see below). Guess it was a good decision afterall.
Harry, sorry to hear about your ACSs. Glad I went w/ HREs--notwithstanding the original fitment problem I had. You may want to consider them also since they are fully forged and are supposed to be very strong. and besides they look great.
good luck with getting them fixed and selling them.
Do you know at all where your wheels got bent? I have to drive to Brooklyn often, but I use my "other car". I would be curious, because I have driven on some roads there that are truly scary.
Harry, I believe Kinesis wheels and Fiske are also forged. Since I believe your ACS are chromed I think you would really like the HRE high polish finish--it's looks almost like chrome, but weighs much, much less. Plus, you can customize them any way you want. Look at Oak's picture of his TT with 540s on a recent thread. They look better in person than they do on their website. My 19 inch HREs are at least 10 lbs lighter than the ACS type III, multipieces. Although I had some initial fitment problems, I am happy how I was treated by HRE-especially Mike Duffy. They definitely "do the right thing". If you want any specifics or words of advice, please send me a PM.
