Has this happened to you?

I bought my '02 beast about a month ago. One of the toughest decisions was choosing the color. I struggled with the decision for weeks. I was considering Le Mans Blue, Jet Black, or Titanium Silver. After dealing with all of the problems of keeping a dark colored car clean (my last car, a '96 996, was Metallic Blue) I decided on the Titanium Silver. Well, now I think I made a mistake.

I'm regretting the fact that I didn't get black. Don't get me wrong, I love my car and I'm happy with silver, but I'd be just a bit more happy in a Jet Black. Has this happened to anyone else? I was thinking about calling the dealership but realized he would probably (definitely) laugh at me.

Oh well, at least I don't have to stress out about those swirl marks!

Your car will grow on you. I had a few black cars. They look great when they're clean, but that is only for the first 30 minutes after a wash. You can't beat siver for it's clean look. I wasn't enthralled with my imola red car in the beginning, but I love it now. Stick it out!

Hang in there! I have a titanium silver M5 and I to had second thoughts. The problem is there are so many great colors to choose from. As far as jet black, no offence against anyone who owns jet black but, every BMW is black. Around here they are all black bimmers and in black, the 540 and M5 are barely discernable imho. If I am spending that kind of money I want my car to look like an M5. The only other color I was contemplating was carbon black. Ultimately, I deceided silver because my very good friend has carbon black and I did not want to get the same exact car. Don't worry it will grow on you.

I bought mine last July and I too had struggle with color decision. I wasn't sure about the lemans blue. I was going back and forth on Blue and Jet Black. I never seen a lemans blue in person but I thought I would give blue a try since my last car was black. On the day of delivery, I had an opportunity to choose a jet black over a lemans blue because other customer who ordered a jet black like the lemans blue better and wanted to switched with me. I decided to keep the blue instead. (My God, both look great!) After I took mine home, I do had seconds thought after few days.. Thinking that I would be better off with Black. The lemans blue grew on me and got soooo many compliments on color. Because of the Lemans blue, everyone started to calling my car "rare" (well, at least in Jacksonville, I'm the only one with Lemans Blue M5)

My point is... give some time.. it will grow on you. Besides, too many jet black BMWs out there... (Not to offend any black BMW owners )

PS. If I have more money, I would definetly own a collection of M5s in every color.

Hey Sang!

A different M5 for every day of the week.

tmacsilverm5,

The others are correct. It will grow on you. Take a look at Fred's recent thread about high res pics. His car is silver and it's just GORGEOUS!!! Like fine wine or an a nice bottle of scotch, your car will grow on you. Congratulations on the new vehicle. You'll love it and this board!

Regards,

DWP

Once you get behind the wheel and start driving it, the choice of color will quickly become a moot point.

the car is stunning in b lack, but black is indeed a pain if you're obsessive about the way it looks - and nothing is EASIER to maintain than silver. based on my experience with the Porsche I would never get a black sedan - the Porsche has about as much surface area as I want to maintain!

you'll definitely learn to like the color of your car.. titanium silver is a great color! I've got a jet black, and I personally think that it's the best color out there when the car is clean or at night... of course, that's only right after I get it washed.... other than that, I try not to drive the car out when it's too sunny, or else you can really see the swirl marks, etc... :p

enjoy the beast!

I agree with everyone else here about the color choices that you make. One of the things about my Lemans blue is that I had never seen one in person before. I knew from the very beginning that I wanted blue but I still wasn't sure that I would be happy with the shade of blue despite the countless pictures I'd seen on the internet. When I finally saw Lemans blue in person I was NOT disappointed! I was downright stunned to say the very least! I should go on to say that I did consider getting Titanium silver myself but since my last car was silver I wanted a change. I also didn't think that silver was a good color for the M5. What I didn't realize is how dead wrong I was. When I saw a silver M5 for the first time I was equally as stunned as when I saw Lemans blue. It will grow on you!

You have a great car, enjoy it, the color choices will become more of a moot point as you drive it more.

Thanks to all who responded!

You're right! What am I complaining about? I have what many people can only dream about owning. On my way home from work I thought about how silly this is. My car looks awesome. I'm not going to waste another minute thinking about it. Thanks guys!
