A small, fun road kill...

I just came in from having a wonderful drive with the beast today, but I thought I would stop and tell you about something funny that happened to me today.

I had been driving on some small roads after work and decided to take the beast home, but I had to cross town before so I decided to put on some music and slowly cruise through the central parts of the city. In one of the central parts there is rather large T-crossing with two lanes taking off to the left and two to the right. When I was arriving at this point, the traffic lights were red and in front of me, already on the leftmost lane I saw a beautiful black Mercedes. When I came closer I could see the badge and it was a C class 320 with “Elegance” badges on the sides. Not even close to a match for the beast, but it was beautiful!

The car was black, lean and extremely clean with lovely rims, so when I pulled along him on the right lane I was really admiring it. What I rather soon also admired was the extremely beautiful blonde that was sitting in the passenger seat. When I moved to slowly stop by his car I could see her eyes focusing on my 20 inch rims, then on the side of the car and finally she looked up and I looked straight into those beautiful blue eyes. I nodded and greeted her moving my hand towards my eyebrow and she nodded back with a gentle smile.

At this point the driver, a guy in his mid 30s, leans forward to find out what she is looking at. He does not look at all as happy and says something, but I can’t hear it as both his and my windows are up. Her smile goes away and she quickly looks back at him, just to rapidly look back at my rims, the side and the back again with that smile. Not to irritate the guy further I simply look at the traffic lights that right then turned green.

I just glide away forward and the guy accelerates away from me, staying on the left lane all the time. Just 300 meters after the first traffic lights at the crossing, there is a new set of traffic lights that of course were red, so I again glide up, on the right lane and again look at his car and at his girl. Anyway, here is where I notice he is not properly positioned, because just 200 meters ahead of him is a bus on his lane that has stopped to take a left and is waiting for a space in the crossing traffic. I get the feeling he is going to try to accelerate away and switch to my lane even if it is tight so when the lights turn green I just accelerate enough to match his speed. This cuts him off and he has to switch lanes behind me, at what time I expect him to get a clue from the sound of the Kelleners exhaust and the M5 badge, but no…this just seems to have made him even more aggressive because now he was revving up his engine trying to pass me on the left lane after he passed the bus. As I had seen the new set of traffic lights 400 meters ahead of us, I didn’t follow up and slowed down slowly, but he had to make a rather brutal break to stop. I started giggling to myself as I now understood he was trying to prove something to his girl and I thought I would teach him a lesson.

So when I stopped at the traffic lights I saw that the two lanes ahead of us were clean of traffic as this part is leaving the center of the city. There were no pedestrians on the sides so I turned off the music and waited for the lights to switch. He was so eager he was already half a car length ahead of me gliding slowly waiting for the green light, but when it came I floored it and in less than two seconds in first gear I was a car length ahead of him. I then switch to second I floored it again, but saw that he had already given up, because he looked very small in my rear view mirror. I was just 20 km/h over the speed limit at this point so this was no crazy stunt.

Here is where I laughed the most. Next set of traffic lights was red too, but he didn’t dare to approach me again and place himself on my side. He was crawling keeping himself behind me all the time. When I drove straight ahead he turned right without even signaling and I didn’t see him again…I would have paid LOTS to know what his girlfriend told him about the incident. I laughed all the way home…

Best regards,

Fedde

Haha thats hilarious !!! I use to have the C320 truthfully it's a
preety weak car, the gearing is horrible and the acceleration
seems to be designed for the "conservative" driver !!!

Hehehe now if It was a C32 it would have been clsoe but in the
end you still would have won !!!! Pic of my mini beast below
tell me if you get to race one of them !!! I am sure it would get
killed on the higher end ....

Great story!

Great story Fedde! What was that guy thinking, trying to match a beast with a 320?

I actually was in Uppsala with the semibeast today, didn't see any beast with 20" Hartges though
Those wheels are

Would have been nice to see a BMWM5.com:er and your beautiful beast.

Phil,
That C32AMG is gorgeous, Merc is really doing a good job right now.

Great story! Some guys, clearly, are dorks.

Too bad you didn't get the girl - but if she is going out with a dork, she is probably, well, ... a dorkette.

Greg: She was really beautiful, but instinctively I had the feeling
she probably was a "dorkette", because she had that spoiled
look about her

Semibeast: You are from around Uppsala? Please! Let me
know next time you are in town! Would be nice to meet a
fellow member from the board! Don't hesitate to contact me!

C32Phil: For some reason your pic is not visible for me
Maybe the site that hosts it is temporarely down? Will try later
to see if it shows up

Thanks for the comments guys...

Best regards,

Fedde

Stockholm

Fedde,
I'm from Stockholm, I was just visiting Uppsala, had a meeting in the afternoon. Were there for a couple of hours, had a quick lunch (sandwich) at aplace called Bredbar? down by the railwaystation.

That town is really full of cyclists, they were everywhere! You can really tell it's a "studenttown", it's a nice place.

I'll be sure to contact when I'm in town next time, I'd love to see the Lionking in person and hear that Kelleners exhaust everyone is talking about.

Dear Semibeast,

The station is just 500 meters from where I work, so if you are
around that area, let me know by sending me an e-mail some
time ahead. You are more than welcomed to have a look at the
beast

That particular area is full of bikes and students, but the rest
of town also suffers from this plague. It really is a small city
of students. Statistics claim that Uppsala has over 30000
students here. This becomes evident during the summer, when
they all move back to their home cities and the town becomes
soooo calm and soooo lovely to drive in!

Best regards,

Fedde
