Gonna give it a try...

Folks:

I have been watching this thread with interest. I finally purchased a set of SS headers from Aaron at Brecus (thanks Aaron), delivered this week. I intend to get to this job as soon as I get the E30 M3 off the lift (rear wheel bearing replacement). The header job may take a little longer as I am replacing differential seals at the same time. In any case I will post before and after measurements and pictures. My lift is a drive on, so it should be easy to do the measurements. I will also look at both the engine and transmission mounts. If anyone would like any other measurements/pictures, now would be a good time to let me know. Note that I have a Tubi X pipe and cans (yes, I love'em).

Cheers,

Mike

We have double checked the headers we have in stock, and the jigs, and found that everything is in spec.
We even did an install on a LHD M5, and again, found that the both the right and the left side headers have the proper ground clearance.
The only possible cause for your low ground clearance, assuming that your engine and transmission mounts are not sagging, is that the collectors are not fully bottomed against the primaries.
Also, loosening the stud nuts on all of the 8 primaries' flanges allows for an extra, limited amount of adjustability, both upwards or downwards.
Once the installation is done correctly, the final firment is prefect.
There really is no possibility for any of the headers component being out of spec.
They all have the same angle, height, etc., regrdless of the production batch.
We would be more than willing to assist you, by sending updated, replacement parts, or by giving more accurate directions and installation tips; but there simply is no possibility, as each and every individual part of the headers proved to be perfect.

Hi Alessandro,

Does your last post also apply to the RHD versions, seeing that it is only one side (passenger side for the LHD version & driver side on the RHD version) that seems to be in question?

Hi Blue Thunder.
Yes, all of the points apply to the RHD headers, as well.
The layout of each of the individual primaries is specific, as the LHD SS headers is totally different in the pipe routing from the SS RHD one; but the arrival point of all of the 8 pipes, in relationship to the chassis and the engine mounts and subframe, is exactly the same.
Also, the collectors are the same.

Alessandro,

Listen, just a moment to say "Thank You" and the Staff at Supersprint for taking the time and energy to listen to our concerns and verify your parts/components. I hope that I can speak for all when I say that shows the companies committment to excellence.

As stated previously and special attention to Michael William, who getting ready for the install. IT IS CRITICAL to ensure that you get the collectors pushed ALL the way up and on to the header pipes. In making sure that this is done absolutely perfect on initial install, issues down the road can be avoided.

Again, Alessandro, Thank you and Supersprint.

Regards

Steve

+1. I will be honest I was very surprised and extremely happy to learn about and experience the customer service provided first hand. I've received my new connecting pipes and will install them once my new tires show up.

Just building on Steve's comments, it is essential that anyone installing these headers adamantlyexpress the importance of bottoming out the collectors to their installer. They can and should expect it to be hard work! My guy suffered over getting it done right but he took the time and it paid off. He used a soft mallet and hammered away until they were completely set. I am lucky to have built a relationship with my tech and he understands my expectations and standards when it comes to working on my car. It's very important to make sure you pick the right shop as this can be a time consuming install and any impatience will lead to problems.

Do you more on how they seeted the collectors. I have tried 3 times now. They need to move up another 1 inch. I have even broke the spring mounts using these to try to pound them up. I have put a piece of wood over the end of the the collector and tried to pound this with a large hammer. I also tried losening the primaries but didnt want to break the studs in the head from pounding with the primaries loose. I just cant get them up more than an inch and up to where they are sopose to be. Any ideas??? Gilli?
Thanks

I was afraid my headers were going to hang low after reading this thread, but they're flush with the plastic panels on the sides of the car, no clearance issues for me.

Not sure if it matters, but my headers were purchased in July 2009, so they're not a new batch or anything.
