The following shows our standard full detail service and wheel powder coating. The vehicle is a 2003 E39 M5 with 100k miles that needed a full clean up and wheels refinished. It will be complete by Friday and give you an idea of what's involved in our package detail.

Stage 1: Prep

The vehicle is washed and clayed outside. We then bring it into the detail bay to blow it dry with 120 psi compressed air.

Stage 2: Disassemble and tape

With the surface prepped; wheels, headlights, and tail lights are removed. The body moldings are tapped off for protection.

Wow...looking forward to the finished product. Man, the wheel with the cracked finish is bad - hopefully it had already been refinished once. The paint on the car looks pretty good pre-detail, so the owner must have maintained it. This detail must have been commissioned by the owner, as no dealer will go to this extreme! It reminds me of what I might do for my car should I decide to keep it after 100k (and I think I will - 66k currently after 6 years of ownership, acquired with 20k) - IF I could find a local company that did this type of work.

I assume you are board sponsor - welcome, as I haven't heard of your company before.

FYI

When I detailed my E39 M5, I would remove the trim mouldings--better job and no need to tape. Something you may consider?

At any rate, cant wait to see the finished product.

I was wondering the same thing. Seems it would be easier to remove them plus make it a better job.

Nice job...

Looks like it will turn out awesome.

However I notice one thing that you didnt take off the moldings. Seeing you already spent this much effort I would take off the bumper moldings and the door moldings.

I don't do the detail as extreme as this (as I always try to keep the car clean on daily basis), but I always take off the moldings when polishing the car :)

I'm using Bradan now to get my car washed. John (dude pictured with headphones) is very good and does a thorough job. I'll be getting my full detail there when I get my front-end resprayed.

Now that all the prep work is complete (wash, clay, masking edges etc) Its time for the inspection and refinishing of the paints surface. There are a good amount of swirls, deep scratches and water spots. I decided to go with Mezerna's Power gloss compound and synthetic cutting wool pads to remove these defects, making sure the compound was broken down properly to avoid compounding swirls. After that it was followed with Mezerna's Super Intensive polish, Meguairs M 205 Polish, Ardex's High Gloss Glaze, and sealed with Auto Glym's HD wax. I had to mess with our camera quite a bit to get the swirls to show under the halogens. This is quite a transformation considering this is a light colored car. Enjoy

Some before shots (swirls and no tint) It looked a lot worse in person...Did the best i could

You can see them a little better here

After wool compounding

Left side after compounding, right side before

I should have flipped the label the other way, but u can clearly see the difference

After compound and SIP

Heres a good shot of some more damage

Making sure the edges were protected preventing any wool burns

Washed and waxed our M5 to maintain all the hard work i did when i wet sanded it!!

After getting the 50/50 pictures i wanted, i started to the whole car, step by step. This is the beginning of the SIP, layered with the M-205

Starting to pick up some shine

High Gloss Glazing

Waxing it up HD style, this really made the paint POP :eek:h:

Removing the wax after it was left to cure

Sprayed some water on the car to show you the beading, it was so smooth i had trouble getting the pictures because all the water was sliding :biggrin:eek:ff

That is it for today, tomorrow i will be doing the head and tail light restoration, interior and the other odds and ends. As always feel free to ask any questions you may have, and Thank you for viewing!!

Amazing.

Enjoyable thread. I will say - this is why I love Sterling Grey so much...just dark enough to be interesting, but light enough that swirls are very difficult to see.

If this kind of treatment was available locally I'd jump on it despite the above.
