        Exclamation NAV upgrade

I took my car in for its 1200 mile service. I notified my advisor that my NAV feature (Ver 18, SW ver 41) is annoyingly slow. He told me that NAV version 18.2 is ONLY available on the E65 7-series, and is not available on other cars yet. However, he did say there is a slight upgrade available. So guess what? When I got my car back the following happened:

        1) NO more ACCEPT screen
        2) Feet measurements have turned into yards (which I don't like)
        3) Nav is a bit faster, not much though!!
        4) On service menu, the SW version shows as 45 now

I think there have been posts about it. Sound like they inadvertently set it to Euro-mode. Probably need to take it back so they can reset to US mode. I did an archive search on "yards". See #10 in the Nav-Faq.

Sounds like your Nav system is now operating in Euro mode which is why everything is in yards for you.

What surprises me is that you say yours is version 45? I don't see how that's possible?!?

You're probably right!! Good thinking. Now, should I do it and get accept or leave it. I must say Yards is a bit wierd to me, I have overshot turns many times, thinking I have ways to go until the turn

hmm... I dunno why people get so annoyed with the accept screen.. yeah.. it's an extra step to make.. but after a week, it just becomes natural to hit the accept button right after you start the car... it's really no biggie... It just depends if the yards or the accept screen annoys you more...

        Jason,
When you go into "settings", press and hold "menu" for 10 seconds, you get to Service Menu screen. From there, I clicked "On Board Copmputer", it gave me SW version 43 HW version 45
However, when you go into "settings" and look in top right hand corner, my screen shows 3/40 I am not sure what is going on???

What you want is the version number in the "settings" menu. Yours says its 3/40 meaning you have v18.0. The latest version available is v18.2 which shows up as 3/41. Hope that clears things up for you.

Being English, perhaps, my dealer set my NAV to Euro mode. I didn't know this until I read posts on the subject.

It's anyhow a double blessing: good old yards and no legalities. Nice to know there is a payoff for being relatively unlitigious (is that a word? Gustav where's the spell-check!) across the pond.

PS: for anyone interested, our Queen Mum passed away in her sleep today - 101 year old and drinking her Gin to the end! God bless her!

In a recent service, I had my nav software updated and it seems to respond quicker than before. How do I determine what software version I have?

Select the "Settings" screen. Hold down the menu button until the service menu appears. Your software version appears in the upper right corner. e.g.: 3-1/41
