The M5 kicks serious ***** :-)

1) I'd definately integrate the Weather Band (WB) back in...
2) Remove that **** cassette player and add a single CD, MD, etc.
3) Bikini-clad Bunny of your choice would be nice... Though, the M-Mobility does do a nice job of blowing up the "inflate-a-date"

As for the cruise control, not only does it have 4 buttons when fewer will do, but the indicator light is stupid. It glows green when the system is energized and also when engaged. It should either not go on until engaged or turn different colors, like red when energized and green when engaged.

WOW! How did this thread get restarted after sooooo much time..this has to be a first!

WOZZELS...no that wasn't me near Dressels....there are now a few M5's that I've seen around here in St. Louis...I have a titanium silver one and I've seen at least 2 others just like it..

PROv1...as far as I can remember..there is a WB button that you press to get the weather channel in the e39...Mine did not have NAV so I'm assuming you have the rectangular radio control panel...if so..it's there for sure..

As for my original comments from 2 years ago..I still stick by all of them...but as many others pointed out...they are minor complaints...I love this car and currently have 45,000 miles on it and intend to put at least that many more on it!

Repairs to date:

New shift knob x3...(peeling titanium) The last one being leather which I actually prefer...it just feels better...

new clutch which was replaced under warranty (not full maintenance) as they "discovered" a faulty throw out bearing (whatever that is) which caused premature wear. Face it..the M5 is UNDERCLUTCHED...

3 or 4 new sets of cupholders, I can't remember exactly how many..I don't care what people say or what the Germans think is right..I like a nice hot mug of coffee on the way to work!

New outside tempature sensor housing.. ( my fault....pesky little 8 inch curbs are hard to avoid sometimes!

2 new rims.....(potholes are a ***** on low profile tires)

only 1 ticket....51 in a 40...LAME!

Top speed I have ever hit...146 indicated...( I still think the cops are looking for me!)

Mossie,

Polish the alloy. You can't tell me that Americans don't do this to there wheels.

They look spectacular. No more paint.

Personally I know how to drive, and have never touched a Kerb.

My last HSV had One off wheels from Japan.

With $7K just for the rims, you learn not to hit anything.

As for the dude who smokes in his Beast. Considered yourself flamed.

Oval mirror is desiegned to match outside ones.

I have a 540i with M5 Mirrors outside and a rectangle normal one inside. It just doesnt look right.

I would be glad to swap it for your M5 one but the logistics of freight probably wouldn't be good. Trust me the oval ones suit the M5.

Whoah. I would've never thought you'd reply.. This thread is from about two years ago!

What part of Saint Louis do you live?

It seems that St. Louis has about a million m couple and roadsters, a spattering of M3s, (E36 more than E46) and so far a total of 5 M5s (including yours and the ones you saw).

Re: It's the best car I've owned but...

I like everything about the car especially the rear view mirror...

You should consider a 7 series.

The main thing that throws me off with the new ///M5 is the fact that the rearview mirror is square.

Just my 2 cents

Re: It's the best car I've owned but...

Now that you digged this thread out of the grave, I like to say that I've seen some pics of some e39 M5's with square rearview mirrors. What's that all about?

Re: It's the best car I've owned but...

On pre 2000 models they were square. However the one on the picture has facelifted rearlights = wrong on a pre 2000 model.

I think that was pretty funny! G1 Stevem.

I have a few Complaints about the E39 M5 Also!!

I don't like it because...,

Well, it's due to the fact that...

I mean it can't...

It's like it won't...?

I don't feel as if I can...

Ok, I don't have any Complaints...
