Regarding our Evolve headers, plenty of info with and without remap here on the board(and all these claims are genuine,BTW)!
500hp is NOT very doable with an n/a S62.
I know that because I built quite a few stock and modified S62s....
Take the Evolve beast engine for example, headers, intakes, heads, remap on that rebuilt engine is somewhere 460ish...which is realistic with these mods.
Forget larger valves, the heads crack then....
My engine that I build right now, with balanced crank, pistons(stock),rods, ported heads, throttle bodies,Evolve headers,Schrick cams and a totally different intake system should be in the 475-485hp area with about 600NM....
The only S62 I have seen that had 520-530HP was a race engine I built with the same specs above, arrows rods and CP pistons,dry-sump system,Vanos delete, aggressive cams and stand alone ECU...
Build cost of the race engine:approx. 60k€......
Also, bear in mind, that even when you start with heads, cams and all the stuff, you have to rebuild also the rest of the engine to have something reliable.
Building even a "mild"(means 460HP S62) sets you back about the same amount of money a high mileage early M5 costs....
So usually, headers, software, intakes are the best solution to have something 40HP+ without having to go the full program mentioned above.
And even a 440ish S62 is enough for most and a HUGE improvement over stock!!!!!!

Back when SS first released headers for the S62 a number of guys used JET-HOT to apply a ceramic coating to address heat soak. Any thoughts on JET-HOT and Evolve headers?

LOL - maybe not for this car, but every header I've ever bought for my various Corvettes have always bolted straight up to the stock exhaust system. For $1200, wouldn't one expect it to do so?
Correct, I was referring to this car. Btw, you can use BMW exhaust clamps....they work wonderfully.

i got stone balls from all the teasing..iff you where a stripper, you would be a millionaire by now..
i do have still one small request though, and yes i know its a little late , but it maybe gets you on a idea.
isn't there a possibility too make it a straith bolt on system Sal where we dont have to hack the cats up.
i can't see that it would make problems to the header design (but what do i know offcourse)
instead off going from 2 to 1 welded up on the hacked up cat pipes, use flanges that bolt on the oem system to go from 2 in 1
lenght would be the same so it wouldn't affect the overall performance i suppose ?
offcourse iff the space off the 2 pipes is different then oem specs its a whole other matter to adjust .then dont even bother.
3 main reasons..(+1 particular for my country)
1; dont need too cut up the cat pipes
2; our cars go for peanuts when we sell. i dont want to sell my car in xx years for peanuts with a 4k worth header set extra for the prices they cars are now worth these days.(mods dont add value in general)
3; we can diy/install them ourselfs for people who dont have welding skills.
4; officially we cant have engine /performance mods done on our cars according to annual control regulations. worst case scenario;they see the headers, i have to remove them and then i'm stuck with cut pipes and have too look for 2 hand cats wich cost money again just too please the bastards..
anyway its just a idea/suggestion though..
i'm in no matter what,my money lays ready too order. although i would like the bolt on option iff it could be done.
This has to be the funniest post in this thread!
The headers will not be anywhere near $4k. This is too much.
Thanks for the questions and suggestions. During this long development programme quite a few prototypes were thought of and some built. Some were too hard to fit, others were just too expensive to make.
We are taking everything your talking about + loads more into consideration. This is more than just a project where we make a quick set of manifolds for a quick profit.
This is a project which takes many things into consideration and has now finally come to a close.
