ive noticed that on mine too, but i think its when the car has just been started up. i believe mine happens when the clutch is all the way pushed to the floor.
btw, how much pressure does the clutch require? do you guys push the clutch all the way down?
have been told it is a sign of the throwout bearing... thats what my buddy/mechanic says
mine pulsates the pedal slightly if i barely press on the pedal and the noise goes away if clutch pedal is more than 1/3 way down
my noise has gotten slightly louder recently and can notice it while driving around town now... before it was only noticeable sitting in food drive thrus and at red lights... very annoying
every manual tranny bmw i've ever driven has this pulsation through the clutch pedal. it has to be runout of the pressure plate and or the whole assembly. this is the same principal as brake pedal pulsation, the runout of the rotor pushes the piston which moves the fluid through the system and is felt at the pedal.
the noise however is definitely not normal, i'd get under there and for the hell of it check the slave cyl. make sure its bolted tight to the bellhousing.
To clarify things.
I never rest my foot on the clutch
I don't feel any pulsating in the pedal.
The sound is not present when clutch is fully engaged or disengaged.
You can only hear it while putting a slight pressure on the pedal while in neutral.
As soon the the pedal comes to that point where the clutch starts engaging the sound disappears.
