Hey Everyone -

As you can see, I'm a new member to this group. I appreciate the immense wealth of information on this site, and the great advice you guys all share. (And yes, I used the search feature before posting!)

I am installing an ESS supercharger on my 2000 E39 M5. It has been an interesting project, to say the least. I have been taking lots of pictures along the way, and when I am finished I will post a thread detailing the project. (I see there are several of you with the ESS kit installed - looking forward to comparing notes!).

I appreciate all the posts regarding disconnecting the electrical connector from the fuel injectors - very helpful! It was a total PITA, but now that I've done it (twice, see below) it's really not that bad - in fact, they come off quite easily once you figure out how to do it.

My immediate problem is this: I have discovered that the ESS-supplied Bosch fuel injectors are longer than the stock ones. ESS warned of this possibility, and even supplied some parts to accomodate the mod (longer bolts and some spacer washers). The installation requires modification of the mounting bracket for the fuel rail (read "cut a slot where the bolt hole used to be"), and I'd like to remove the rail from the car to work on it. (Hate to have metal shavings sprayed around the open engine!).

What I can't tell from looking (and I'm too chicken to apply any force until I know) is whether the fuel line at the back of the fuel rail has a threaded connector, or is that thing just crimped on to the rubber fuel supply line? Looks to me like the rails and hoses might all be one single pre-fabbed assembly, but I'm not sure.

Does anybody know how (or it there's a way) to disconnect the fuel hose from the fuel rail safely so I can get the rail out of the car and work on the bracket?

Thanks - I really appreciate any advice !

- Andy :)
