^^No need to open the hood, just two torx bolts under the grille and the small screws fastening the fender walls to the bumper.

Wow, sorry for this! Might need to do some interrogating when you see that scummy looking kid driving his 528 with a silverstone M bumper...

That's it. 2 torx bolts and a bunch of screws, which they bypassed by just hacksawing the plastic wheel well.
I'm pretty sure it won't be some kid, this kind of thing is a crew filling an order for friends or a shady shop.

I do have a garage. I just parked out because I had to leave early and didn't want to wake anyone with the Tubi's
...at least they didn't smash the window and take the headlights too.

Sucks for the stolen bumper guys. :-(

See if any survalence cameras where able to catch this from near by stores or homes.

Or get a (internal) camera security system that will actuate as soon as the car alarm is triggered.

Surprisingly enough, taking the bumper off doesn't set off the oem alarm. The only thing that sets it off is tilting the car (as if a tow truck was taking it) or any of the doors/trunk/hood are opened.

Look around for a wannabe M5, something like a 525, 528, 530 or 540.

Sorry to hear. I know exactly how you feel, because it has happened to me twice as well. It happened to my ole M5 and recently my E36 M3 and yes it happened outside my house. Whoever took your bumper scoped you out. He/she knew you parked your car there and studied your hours. Another thing is it is most likely the first dude who took your bumper took this one as well. Its obvious he is a cancer right now and you need to play a surgeon and cut him out of your life. I highly recommend you find a garage or you will most likely lose your whole car next time. They suceeded twice and usually the first time is the hardest. Also keep in mind your insurance might go up and possibly might eventually drop you if you filed both claims. Good luck n keep us posted.

I doubt that will work. Correct me if i'm wrong, but I think BMW stopped tagging the body panels with the VIN stickers.

Nah...who needs the VIN? I was thinking from an old school perspective; if the guy looks like a crook, he's the crook.
