Got a pair of these, they are dry only, much nicer than the dinan units...

21-204DK - AEM , AEM DryFlow Air Filter

Most notable is that the upper rubber part that goes on the carbon tubes is much more substantial...

What's the benefit over the Dinan's exactly? How much HP increase are you expecting?? the first question was serious..

This is something I will look into, thanks for the lead. Good news is that the K+N wraps I have now for the Dinan filters will probably fit these also. Fortunately I haven't had any MAFS fouling or other issues but have always wanted to get away from the oiled filters.

None, just new air filters? Just doing maintenance without using Dinan filters...non oiled...

The upper rubber part just seems alot stouter than the dinan units, from which the filters hang...Nice for something that is completely hidden from view or inspection...

You didn't happen to take pictures of this improved upper part did you? I have some Dinan filters sitting around and was going to compare.

Assuming the M5 uses a similar CAI design, I'll note that the filter should be checked regularly. It's obvious, but apparently, the last owner of my 540i never thought about it. The filter rubber dry rotted and fell off the tube. The filter sock was then sucked up into the intake and wedged in my throttle body. Based on how dirty the filter was, no one, not even the dealer techs ever looked at it. :eek:h:

When I swap them out this weekend I'll take a shot of both...

I've used the AEM 21-2047DK DryFlow Air Filters and AEM 1-4007 Dry Flow Air Filter Wraps for over 20,000 miles and they have worked great.
