OT: Road Trip Safety Essentials - The Unofficial BMW M5 Messageboard (m5board.com)

Guys,

I'm about to take a road trip to northwest Arkansas to pick up my family who have been visiting the inlaws all week. I've been making a mental list of things to take:

Fully charged cell phone
Black & Decker 12v tire inflator
Tire Gauge
Castrol 10W-60 oil
Windex, Speed Shine, & Rags

Since we don't have a spare, a jack and lug wrench would be useless, no? Any other suggestions of what to pack from a safety or survival point of view?

Actually, the thing I never remember is small change for toll roads

It gets me every time!

Well... if you have the wheel locks like I do you might want to bring the "key bolt" or whatever it's called!

In the unlikely event that you do get a flat, it will make things easier for you to change it.

Instead of Windex, consider baby wipes! I throw a container (not the foil packs, they dry out too fast) in all my cars. They do a great job of removing 90MPH bugs from your windshield and headlights and are "all-in-one"

I pack a diposable camera (the more expensive flash units) for interesting sights and accidents. Not that you plan on having any, but if you get tangled in one, documentation is a MUST IMHO

You should also bring a small amount of 3M glaze along with a detailing towel. They might come in useful for those moments where you might want to clean up some "mess" left by those lovely birds. Be sure to use soap and water first though!
