I was wondering what the latest navtech map CD version are? I got a mailing yesterday from them saying that I should get a new version of the disk. The last one I got was around september last year... I think it was version 2001.1
I checked online just now, and it seems that the latest one is the same version? Are the 2002 versions out yet? I heard they're much faster when you use it with the version18 nav system...

They come out twice a year, but not on a definite schedule. I have discussed this problem with them. I want to get on a regular upgrade subscription, but they don't offer that either. All they tell you is they ship the latest version at the time of order. This means you must wait 1 year between upgrades to be sure you get a new version, and they lose money. These guys need to get into the software distribution business (that's what they are anyway). We need the ability to download the updates for a fee and make our own CDs. The version of the CD should be printed on it when we receive it if we have it shipped from NavTech, and the currently available version on the website should have it's version identified, and a subscription plan should be offered at a reduced rate. DUH!

Hi Russ,
There is a Yahoo group called BMWNAV that maintains a (small) database of people wanted to trade NAV disks. There was also a thread there discussing a group buy of all 7 North America disks (~$300), then distributing them in some fashion.
Also, you might want to check eBay (search on "navtech bmw"); there are usually a couple of disks there but no Map #6 currently.
