Pixel Repair in Canada does exist!

I just received my instrument cluster back from Speedofix (www.speedofix.com), and for the 1st time in 5 years±, I now have an E39 with a fully functioning display!! I hope that there is not a problem with me posting this link - I have no connection with the business, but wanted to share an alternative to similar repair solutions which are located in the Unites States, given that there is no apparent "goodwill" replacement or repair program for Canadians from BMWNA.

I would say that if you are in Canada, it is worthwhile to drop them a line if you need your cluster repaired. Andrei shipped mine back to me within 24 hours of it showing up on his doorstep.

Awesome just sent them an email. I was interested in VDO repair after giving up hope on getting a warrenty cluster from BMW. They wanted to charge me an hour diagnostic time, so basically $150 + tax and i said thats fine if they'll cover it under warrenty, but they said they cant gauruntee me anything till they book it in and charge me. Fortunately i am very aware of how a dealership works and really its just a money grab from them.

I must ask how much the total cost was. I saw 260$ which is a great price, but im concerned about the warrenty if any available. I definately dont want my pixels going MIA a year down the road.

I contacted the company and this is what they told me:

Hello Scott,

1 year warranty is provided. I don't know what techniques used by vdorepair.com, but we will replace damaged parts in order to repair dead pixels. I would be wrong but techs who repairing pixels are using the same parts supplier, that you called "better than OEM materials".

Thanks,

Andrei

Email #2 the most important one:

Scott,

As I told you I have no information on what parts and who in parts supplier of vdorepair.com But I am positive of this problem will return within another 5-7 years and it is not because of quality of parts, it is because of wrong engineer design of unit itself that cause this parts damaged by temperature. We do repair for almost 2 years and be honest had a few warranty issues (for instrument cluster, not the MID unit), the reasons of these issues been not the ribbon cable itself but glass displays that had lost silver contacts and we cannot reproduce it, we have to exchange it with a new one. Now we have new displays on stock and can replace display (for an extra charge of $80) if required at the same time of replacing ribbon.

We do offer Canadian dollars price for Canadians, and USD for our neighbor.

Hope it helps. Please call me if you need more clarifications

Thanks,
Andrei
