Yes, another wrecked M5

Hey guys. I think it's kinda crazy how many M5s on the forums are biting the dust right now, but unfortunately mine is now on the list as well. I was driving to lunch with a buddy on the 10th of this month and we hit some sand on the outside of an off-camber corner. The sand was there because there was some ice on the road the week before and it had not been washed away. I took the corner too wide and hit the sand by accident. The car started sliding off of the road and I tried to correct, but we slid into a ditch, caught something, and the car flipped or barrel rolled (I honestly can't remember) maybe 2 or 3 times before we landed on the roof. My friend and I were able to crawl out through the right rear door. We were both sore for the next few days, but that was it. The car definitely did its job to protect us and we're very fortunate to be alive. The car is replaceable, but we are not.

Here are some pics:

I thought this was another one of those posts "showing off" a wrecked M5, until I realized it was your own. Glad to see that the car did it's job and you guys made it out OK.

But man, that's an ugly sight

What a pity to loose such a great looking car, I'am really glad that you're okay.

How you already said a car is always replaceable.
So are you going to buy another M5 E39, if so you've got a great spare parts car for the new M5

Haha, you'll have to ask the insurance company about that. I did take the top half of the plenum as a memento to hang on the wall though.
