I didn't know BMW did a kit like this. I'm not sure whether or not I actually need this or whether I just want it as it is quite cool. The only thing I don't like about it is the size of the unit that holds the new boot button and the camera itself. Saying that, it looks to be a better option than losing the lock in the boot which is another common fitment

How much did you pay for the kit if you don't mind me asking? I have an 02 with widescreen and a MKIV nav computer, this should work ok? How long did it take you to install?

cheers

I have one of these and find it pretty useful.

The problem with the bowed plate is common, its not the screws, it's the exact camera placement inside the boot (trunk) lid. It's really really hard to get it fitted correctly, you need to sort of rotate the camera a little upwards and backwards and it will suddenly click into place. The screws on the plate are almost useless, they just spread some plastic lugs apart to keep the plate held in.

So you going to do the front view Prism Camera that helps give you heads up at blind/difficult T junctions ?

I would like to do the front camera, if I come across a kit for the right price it would be a nice little project.

any differences doing this on a US car you think?
Don't think there is any difference to the U.S kit, the only options are if you have the TV module. If you have the TV the kit has everything you need if no TV then there is some extra bits required, these are listed in the fitting instructions.

Would this kit work with the MKII system and 4:3 monitor?

Not 100% sure but according to the fitting instructions if you have TV or Nav system or both then this kit applies. I can't see anywhere that it's only for w/screen or later sat-nav drives, maybe worth double checking with your local dealer.
