Russ can't believe you've had that camera kit sitting in the box for over 2yrs !

Thanks
Simon.
I know. Its sitting next to a box that contains a full bluetooth kit that I have also had for around 2 years ! Thats another job to do as well as the illuminated door sills that I purchased a year ago !

It will all be fitted this year !

Just a quick question on this kit, i'm halfway through installing it.

The cable from the tail light to the control box in the bootlid, it has a green cable that seems to be separate in the loom in the boot, but in the bootlid it seems to be intergrated with the loom at the plug end, and then moves to outside the loom.

I've wired this into the 3rd pin of the tail light plug as instructed in the manual.

But the other other says this-

"Insulate Branch A2, GN Cable (Green), and tie it back"

Do I extract this cable from the loom at the control box, cut and insulate it? Why do you wire it in at one end, and then insulate it at the other? Is there a connection mid way in the loom or something?

Can't remeber exactly, but I think the wire you insulate and tie back is on the other part that goes inside the boot lid. I can double check if you're still unsure.

I've just looked at the instructions and if you have the TV option you tie it back and without the TV module you connect it to the tail light.

Hi Chaps,

GregH86 I'm afraid thats not quite right, section 9 says ""Insulate Branch A2, GN Cable (Green), and tie it back" which is the green wire at the control box which i'm talking about, and then section 10, step 10 says "Connect branch A3, GN (Green) cable, to the WS/GE cable from plug X319 (PIN3) using miniature connector 1" which is the tail light connection.

But looking at the table at the start, i think i should be cutting this wire in the boot lid, even though its connected, it must have some sort of joint in the middle of the loom so i'll do it, but do it in a place that's easy to repair if its wrong.

Thanks Guys

Matt

You should not cut anything.

I'm pretty sure that the wire A2 is already loose, I think it's designed to tap into the reversing lights if they are part of the boot lid as in some other cars, X3 and X5 for example, with those cars you would tie back and insulate A3.

That makes sense, i'll pull back the insulation and see if the green wire on the outside of the loom in the bootlid is connected to anything at the plug end. Standby

Now i'm really confused.

The thick green wire, that runs on the outside of the loom, is connected to a thin green wire, that runs in the loom. This connection is at the plug end, as pictured....

At the other end, the thick green wire is terminated to the tail light, as described in the instructions. So where has the thin green wire gone? I can only assume the following from the diagram, do you agree that i should leave the wire uncut and as is? There is no mention of this thinner green cable anywhere, only the thicker 0.75mm one
