Part Number Question for the Best of You.

I figger since our cars are getting older, rubber parts are beginning to crack and fail.

I am trying desperately to find the part number (anal John speaking here), for the rubber "teather" that keeps the gas cap from falling to the ground. It is an inconsequential small part, and mine is still fine, but showing moderate age cracking.

Checked all the BMW websites and parts explosions, my dealer (he ordered something else for me that was wrong), but to no avail. I guess I should offer a prize for the first to supply the correct part number, but anyone with an M5 has everything they could ever want anyway, right?

I just figure that there has to be some bright guy or gal, on here, who knows the answer to such a trivail question.

On your marks, get set, GO ...

John;

Tischer (Sponsor) has it listed below.

getBMWparts.com powered by Tischer BMW - Your #1 Source for all OEM BMW Parts/Accessories!

By the time you pay shipping, it might be worth just going to the dealer and getting the $18+ price...even with tax??

OK, like I figured ... the parts explosion shows a gas cap, but no "teather." And, since the interior rubber ring will probably be going soon, I should buy one locally. Thanks guys for confirming my suspicions, although I wouldn't have picked up the cap without being sure it came with a teather ...

Congratulations! I'll send you directions on how to get here ... FedEx, and UPS are way too slow. If it ever stops raining, I will leave it in the mailbox (don't want to get my hair wet, so I can't go 30 feet to send or receive mail, until the rain lets up ... it does rain once in a while in Southern California, you know.)
