I remember on mine it took the guy who did the remap of the ECU about one week trying and testing to find a way to disable the post O2-sensors correctly that no check engine light came on.The cats(althought not Supersprint) are now in for about 30k km without throwing codes. The cats are 100 cell racing cats welded into the original housings.

THANKS !

So it seems the default for SS is for facelift (non EGT sensor equipped cars)

On my Millteks the default were for pre facelift EGT equipped cars, and if you wanted to fit them onto a facelift car then you would have to plug the EGT (5th) bung.

I believe the actual cat (brick) supplier to both Milltek and SS is the German Company, HJS.

Understood !

There is a 5th buung but it seems it is blocked off from SS factory. If you were to fit your SS cats onto a '99/'00 M5 then you would have to unplug this 5th bung, as the early cars have a 5th sensor (EGT) that fits into there.

This is interesting! So there is a way to get around this issue ... That would save me (at least) some cash!

Do you have any idea what in particular was the problem, or what needed to be disabled? (I know these are top secrets of these guys, but if you got an idea, I will try to "propose" it to my expert!) THANKS!

Not quite. They ask for the model year when you order, so it really depends on what you tell them. AFAIK they're made to order as well...rare to get a set in under 4 weeks (unless someone ordered them already, then changed their mind).

The mfg is stamped on the bottom of the cat, if I recall. Next time my car is in the air I'll take a peek.

Your tuner will know how to tell the DME to ignore the efficiency codes. I had Dinan disable mine when I upgraded to stage 5 software.

Mmmh !!

So what is the problem !! Frits' tuning guys should be able to diable those post cat o2 sensors, so you have SS cats, or no cats with no codes beign thrown, unless there is a further unknown issue.

I think I said this to you in post #2

Yeah, agreed! Working on that one ... ;-)

The (other) problem is that for now I am passing the emissions because I have a good friend who knows these guys ... So one day I might be in trouble to actually pass the emissions with the car ... If the check-up gets more strict or these friends of friends disappear! :-/

Off topic: How is the ESS supercharger? ;-)
