e39 m5 brake problem..please help!

hi,
ive been having an annoying re occuring problem that i thought i had finally solved. left hand speed sensor front. so after replacing the abs sensor twice,my mechanic discovered that underneath the oil filter housing the wires had "chaffed" through, this was due to the oil filter housing being snapped off its brackets.
so tonight i collect the m5 and straight away when i brake the pedal is pulsing up and down, but no lights.so i ignore the problem..then on the motorway i give it a bootfull, bang, on come the lights.
the lights are now back out again but the pedal is pulseing.
any ideas??
