04 X5 steering wheel fits E39 m5 00?

Wondering if the x5 steering wheel fits the e39 m5 00?
Any one on the board ever try this setup?
reason I'm asking is there a good deal on this S.W.

steering wheel and airbag from that x5 is the same as the facelift E39 so its compatible. u might just need a new ring, i'd check up on that. might as well pick up the steering wheel

Actually, the facelifted ('04-'06) E53 X5 has a different steering wheel and airbag than the E39 M5.

i apologize, i didn't realize u meant the facelifted X5 (04-06). my 03 X5 has the same exact setup as my M5 so i wasn't paying attention to the year. i have to imagine that it will work because i saw at a meet a guy with an 01 X5 with an 05 X5 steering wheel on it (like the one pictured). i couldn't confirm if its plug and play though. i will mention that the steering wheel on the preface X5 is not very bulky like the facelift M5 steering wheel. i guess that would make the grip very similar to ur current 00 M5 in that case. most of the 00 M5 guys do the 01+ steering wheel upgrade not just for aesthetics but also for the nice driver feel. good luck either way
