Breyton and new member
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to say hello, and post my first question.
I've been lurking around the messageboard for some time now, and finally decided to register, because this is by far the best forum I've come across. op: Some a**-kissing never hurts
I'm quite impressed with the standard of this board, regarding knowledge and politeness. It's really great to see that this high standard exist.
I hope I'm welcome even though I don't have a M5, "only" a 540, hence semibeast.
I'm trying to convince my father to buy some sweet rims for spring and really like Breyton Magic. I've searched the board, and haven't found anything regarding quality and weight. Feel free to post your feelings about this rims. Good looking or not? Going for 18" or 19", how harsh are the 19" compared to the 18", afterall it's a "comfortcar". Sorry long post!
Thanks!

hey welcome to the board.
I too have a 540i and it's all good..

regarding breytons...I know of some acquaintances who got them on their 528's and 530's. they look pretty nice.
I'm going for ACS though...18's

Aren't Breytons both heavy and cast?

I have the Breyton Visions in 19. They're very good quality wheels. They are a little on the heavy side, but for the money you can't go wrong. My whole set cost $2500 mounted and balanced.

Breyton Magics
I have 18 inch Breyton Magics on my 2002 M-5. I love the looks of these wheels. especially on my LeMans blue car. They are not the lightest wheels, but the quality of the finish, balance and the fit are perfect. I would highly recommend these wheels to anyone, especially given the price. If you really want a good looking wheel, look at the Magic "racing". Same overall design, but with a polished stainless lip. I love mine!

I guess my concern with them on the street is that potholes will rapidly dent cast wheels. With 17" stock wheels, if I move to 18" wheels, there's precious little sidewall protecting the rim from the roads of Boston. I'm interested in possibly investing in something that will hold its shape and value ...

Welcome!
Semibeast,
Welcome to the board.
The Breyton Magic is a very nice looking wheel. Were you considering the one piece or multi piece wheel? I think they are a little heavier than the other tuner wheels. However, for the price they are very hard to beat.
I personally like the look of the Vision wheel over the Magic. Also, the Vision wheels look a lot easier to clean. But, the Magic Racing wheels are very nice with the polished lip. It just depends if you want a more modern design (Vision) versus the more classic multi finned design of the Magic.
By the way, do you have the sport package on your 540? Good luck in your decision.
Rennen,
Can you cost pics of the Visions on your M5? It would be nice to see them.
Sandy

Thanks
Thanks for the replies and welcomes
The Vision wheels are very nice looking and probably, as mentioned, a lot easier to clean.
I really like the Magic wheels and Magic Racing even more, but they are quite a bit more expensive and probably even harder to clean with all those screws, but that polished lip is sweet. Are Magic Racing lighter than standard Magic?
Hartge Classic is also great looking, but they are a lot more $$ than Magics and they are supposed to be very heavy (read on this board), so the difference in $$ may be hard to justify.
I can get 18" Magics with tires for appr. 2000$ from Germany, so the price is hard to beat.
Cerberus,
I don't have the sport package (M-package), love the looks, though!
The car is Topazblue, so I think Magics will look very good on it, their somewhat classic look will suit the car. I've seen one Avusblue M5 with 19" Magics and that looked awesome.
Young-nyc,
Nice to hear from a fellow 540 driver. You have some nice mods on your car, and those wheels look good.
Thanks all!
Semibeast
BTW. There are some impressive car stables among you guys!

I have 18 inch breyton Inspirations and although the quality of them seems reasonable for the price, I managed to bend one within the 1st 1000 miles in NYC. For the price you can almost "throw them away" and they indeed are on the heavy side. I will not replace them with the same brand if thats an indication. Good luck in your quest .......
