My M5 sounds like a broken bed

Yesterday I noticed a creaking sound, and located it to the right rear corner. Even smaller movements, e.g. sitting down in the driver's seat or pushing lightly on the trunk, will produce the sound. It sounds very much like an old bed, springs creaking. Any idea what could cause this?

My guess is the parking brake, and is somewhat normal. My 540 did it everytime I sat in it for 4 years. Parking brake worked well the entire time, so I never did anything about it.

My suspension makes that sound as well, worst from the rear drivers side. I had to replace the sway bar bracket and a few bushings a little while back so I was assuming it was the poly bushings making the "squeaky bed" sound, but am interested to hear what the board things.

usually a squeaking noise in the suspension is either worn out rubber bushings, an unlubricated poly bushing, or a bad shock

Shouldn't be a bad shock, as I recently renewed the shocks (as well as related consumables). Bushings on the other hand could very well be the reason as the car is probably still on its original bushings (at ~80k miles). The sound is clearly related to (even the tiniest) vertical movement, and emanates from the right-hand side rear wheel well.

Lunker325: I have a hard time understanding how the parking brake could make such noises when just pushing the rear end of the car down by a small amount (say, a fraction of an inch). Rocking back and forth I could understand, but up and down? If you've had this noise when sitting down in the car then I guess it's possible, it would just be interesting to understand how.

I have very similar creaking sound, but the thing is on my M5 that I only have it when it very humind outside, raining or when it's cold in winter. It is so anoying. I think something needs to get some lube, but what?

My bet is the rear bushing at the top and bottom of the suspension is dead. When I changed mine, bmw changed the type of rubber from orange to black. However I would also recommend you change the top cap which holds everything in place as I think it also has a bushing in it. Oh yeah, make sure you do both sides.

If you are referring to spring pads and guide supports etc. then I'll be very angry with my dealership in case that turns out to be the problem. I specifically asked them to replace everything that can possibly wear, related to the mounting of shocks and springs (I didn't renew the springs themselves as these should supposedly last for quite a while still).

I actually dug out my bill (~3000 USD for shocks, consumables and assembly) and compared to RealOEM. There seems to be some essential parts missing from the list, so now I'm getting worried that they may have overlooked something. The front suspension parts all seem to be there: the guide support, additional shock absorber etc. For the rear suspension, I'm not seeing the guide support, upper spring pad or additional shock absorber (but strangely, the lower spring pad for which it says "only in conjunction with spring pad upper"). Looks like I may have to pay the dealership a visit...
